Self Care Ideas For Moms

Happy New Year girl!

How you doing?

It’s the first week of the year, and that means new beginnings for us all! Now, I don’t know about you, but I am so over the “new year, new me” bullsh*t that everyone spews out during the first month of each new year. Okay? Like, we get it, you wanna change sh*t up, go ‘head, do you, mama! But don’t be sitting here telling us on every other Facebook post how much you’re gonna change this year, to only end up doing the exact same sh*t you were doing last year.

And guess what? This applies to me too! I have a tendency to say I’m going to change something each year, and then those promises get shoved under a rug somewhere inside my scattered mom brain, and it never happens. But I’m determined to change that this year!

With that being said …

This month’s theme is: Becoming A Better Mom

Which means that every post I write this month will be geared towards becoming a better mom.

Today’s post is dedicated to self care ideas for moms, who can never seem to slow down enough to stop the world from spinning for a few minutes, like you, and sometimes me too.

25 Self Care Ideas For Moms That Only Have 10 Mins To Spare

About a week ago, a Facebook friend of mine and fellow blogger, Danielle from Ok Dani, asked everyone what they were doing for self care that day. Someone responded and said she had no clue where to start. Like many other moms, she was overworked, overwhelmed, and her to-do list seemed so long she didn’t think there was a way she’d be able to fit in an hour of self care.

For most busy moms, that’s the reality of life, and if we try to change that now with no real support, we’re only setting ourselves up for failure.

That’s why I created this list of self care ideas, which should all take about 10 mins (eachto complete. Listen Linda, not everyone has time for a full hour of self care each day! Hell, some of us can’t even get a full hour of silence, most days.

With this list of ideas, you’ll be able to pick one self care item to do each day, or as needed, without feeling guilty about having to leave the kids with someone else. (And if you can’t ever seem to find a babysitter when you need one, then this is perfect for you.) You can do most of these tasks right at home, while your child takes a nap. And guess what? Ten minutes ain’t gonna kill you or your to-do list, girl! So you don’t have no damn excuse this year! You hear me? We gon’ get our sh*t together this year girl, you and me both!

To make it easier for you … for us! I’ll be hosting a 7 Day “Self Care in 10 Mins” Instagram Challenge for busy moms that need some extra motivation + support with this, in two weeks! I’ll have more details for you this Sunday when I send out my first newsletter of the year, so if you haven’t already, click the photo below to subscribe to my newsletter so you don’t miss a thing!

So many wonderful ideas for self-care. Love the idea to learn a new yoga pose! I’m going to try that!

    • Thank you! Let me know how it goes when you do.

  • Ha! That first paragraph had me rolling! And it’s sooo true, too! As for the list, your #4 took me back!! I had forgotten how much I used to love reading that section of Cosmo! I need to get back to doing that. – Amy

    • Yes! I haven’t been able to read mine either because I’ve been working so darn much now. But I totally miss reading that one section. LOL

  • Tee Evans

First of all, I love the name of your blog! Out of the 25 tips my personal favorites are 13 which is really all about simplicity and how you much of a difference they make. Number 18 is hilarious! I’m going to try this today. And 25, I can’t tell you how many times just taking 10 mins to play with my kids has lowered my stress level. Really helpful tips. Thank you.

    • Thank you! (This name took some work! LOL And it’s currently no longer true at the moment. Right now I’m TIRED LOL)

But yess! Playing with my kid is like an instant stress reliever because she’s so goofy.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

    • I can imagine the stress it takes to raise two little boys. I cringe every time I see a boy child run around. They’re WILD. Lol Glad I could help.

  • Jenni L.

I love this! Self-care is the first thing to go with a busy schedule but everyone should try to justify atleast 10 minutes!

    • Exactly! And women are the first people to forget about themselves.

  • Keri @flipflopweekend

These are great ideas! It is so hard to remind myself to take some “me” time, but I know it is important!

    • Totally! Even if it’s knowing when to quit working so you can get an extra 10 mins of sleep.

  • Messy Cutting Board

What great ideas, because the quote is true we all don’t have an hour lol!! Thank you I will keep these in mind!!

My favorite way to wind down is with a good candle! There is something so therapudic about the flame slowly flickering and the scent of the wax filling the air. I can’t wait to try some more of these. Thanks for the list!

    • This is what I need to do this year! Candles! I love sweet smells too, so that might actually work for me. THANKS!

  • Karrie Frost

What a great list. I love that these are easy, and don’t take a lot of time, but can make a huge impact!
