Because we’d all love to have a party at Bowlmor Lanes, but the website just never has enough details.
Disclaimer: I attended Bowlmor’s Private Holiday Preview Party event free of charge, and in return I am providing you with this review. However, everything you’re about to read below is 100% true, and of my own opinions. Bowlmor couldn’t pay me enough to make this stuff up. (Okay, I’m lying, they probably could, but I didn’t. Just read the damn thing. Lol)
A few days ago, I got to attend Bowlmor’s Private Holiday Preview Party and I’m so glad I did! Not only was it free, but it was fun AF. I’m talking, I didn’t wanna leave, I need to go back ASAP, help me think of an excuse to host a party, fun. Now I’m over here tryna figure out if it’s possible to host a holiday party for my family this year, instead of our normal Christmas shindig at my uncle’s house. No offense fam, but I’s tired of just watching basketball and arguing with my cousin about who’s gonna win. Can we go hang out and have some fun as a family? *sigh* It ain’t gonna happen, but just in case you’re family is better than mine …
Here’s 9 things you need to know before you host a party at Bowlmor Chelsea Piers!
1. They have a private bowling room with really cute chairs. 😍
There’s something special about being sectioned off into your own private space and forgetting the rest of the world even exists for a few hours. Plus the chairs are great for photo opps. (I mean c’mon, you can’t tell me you ain’t gonna spend the first 10 mins of your party just taking photos on the chair, pretending to be royalty. Lol Shoot … if you’re really feeling special, you can bring a crown or tiara with you. Lol You know I’m serious right?)
2. There’s a gravity ropes course that allows you to walk over guests, so please don’t fall.
Ain’t nobody tryna get squished. I’m kidding, it’s totally cool (not falling, the ropes course) and as you’ll see below in the slideshow my friends (Tanay from Life With Tanay and Saisha from Sen-Saisha-Nal) did it and loved it. One girl was like nah, eff this ish, I ain’t doing it and came down before she even started. Lol (But that would have totally been me which is why i didn’t even bother, it pays to know yourself this well.) Everyone else seemed to enjoy it. One lady’s foot slipped but she eventually figured out how to keep her balance. So it’s challenging, but clearly not impossible.
3. If you’ve never played laser tag before, you’re going to be highly disappointed after the first game.
It took the entire game for me to figure out WDF was going on. (Maybe it’s just me? Lol) But I didn’t even know we all had gamer names or how to know if I actually shot someone or when I was shot. Listen it was a f*cking mess and I know it, I admit to it, I was confused. (And that video we watched beforehand definitely didn’t help! LOL) I mean you should have heard me screaming at folks during the game like “stoppppp I don’t know what I’m doing, this ain’t fair, hold on, lemme just figure this out, omg stop shooting me!” It was a mess, but towards the end of the game, I finally got a hang of it and I was dying to play again. So make sure you leave enough time to play at least 2-3 games.
4. There’s a ton of food to choose from, not just pizza.
I had their bruschetta salmon (for the first time ever, I know, I know, stop judging me, lol), sautéed green beans, and a roll. But there was a ton of other options, like: honey Sriracha glazed ham, mango chipotle glazed pork loin, garlic mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, and more. Truth be told, I liked the rolls more than everything else.
The food wasn’t that great. (Although, I am really, really, picky so there’s that to take into consideration.) So I basically just drank my jack and coke and ate a few rolls and that was it. By the time I was done, I was dying for pizza. (Don’t judge me.)
But there’s so much more to choose from, according to their website, I’d love to go back and just taste some more food options before I say the food is wack. I get the feeling there’s something there that I’d love. So why don’t establishments let folks have tastings before they book parties so they’re not disappointed later on? If I was booking a party, I’d totally need a tasting for my picky ass. I wonder if it’s possible? Maybe they’ll invite me back and I can test everything for ya myself? Let us all bow our heads and pray.
5. There’s this drink called boarding pass, and you’re going to love it!
(If you’re the sweet, fruity drink, kind of gal’.) I totally wanted another one! Actually after laser tag, my friend saw my headphones on the chair we placed our bags on, and I saw my cup and finished the rest. Lol That’s how good it was! Now I definitely don’t recommend doing that, ever, but it’s great to know no one drugged my drink while we stepped away. Lol See, New Yorkers ain’t all that bad. *side eye* But whatever, the drink is part of their cocktails menu, and they have a few more I’m dying to try!
6. The lane side servers are awesome and having your buffet right behind you is even better!
Nothing beats having your food a few steps away so you can fill your plate while your friend takes her turn, and having your drinks brought right to you, instead of having to go order it yourself. So yes, lane side servers are awesome! I know there’s an option to have your own personal lane server, when having a party, so if you have more than 10 people, I’d totally suggest paying a bit more for the extra service.
You know how annoying it is to want another drink, but to have to wait forever, because your waiter is tending to someone else? I sure as hell do! Lol FYI – I’m not talking about the Bowlmor servers, actually our server had others to tend to, but he was still amazing! Which is why I’m recommending you dish out a few extra dollars to have the same wonderful experience we had.
7. You’re going to want to stay forever. 2 hours ain’t enough time damn it!
So take this into consideration when booking your next party: we played one game of bowling, ate while bowling, did the gravity ropes course and then laser tag. That was it! (That was literally all we had the time had for and we were there for about 2 hours!) But since we had to wait awhile for laser tag to start, we didn’t have time for much else. I was helluh mad. I needed another hour or 2 so I could play a few more games of laser tag! Hell, we never even got to touch the arcade or billiards table! So yeah, if you wanna do everything Bowlmor Chelsea Piers has to offer, which I’d suggest, 2 hours ain’t gonna cut it. (I know the website recommends 2.5 hours, but I’m telling you it ain’t enough bruh!)
8. A super bowl party package only costs $49.99 per person.
This includes 3 food options and 2 drink tickets for each person, along with 2 hours of bowling. But remember, I said 2.5 hours ain’t even enough time to do everything? So if you do want to do everything, when you’re booking, see if you can extend your stay for a bit longer, and how much extra it would cost to do so.
For more information on prices, and what each party package includes you can visit www.events.bowlmor.com/social-events/76#packages. Or you can contact their Director of Sales, Nikki Lazar, personally and let her know Sanaa Brooks over at ViciousQuipster.com sent ya. Her email is NLazar@Bowlmor-AMF.com.
(Note: The prices above may change throughout the course of the year, so make sure you visit their site for accurate pricing. Also, I don’t think the prices above are for their “Holiday” packages, so if you’re looking to have a holiday party, which I really, really want to do with my family soon, make sure you ask for their holiday pricing.)
9. You could have saved 20% on your entire package if you booked before Sept 30th.
But since I can’t seem to find that darn discount code, here’s an even better deal! Use the code “SWEETGIFT17” to get a $20 gift card for each guest + a free dessert for your entire event.
For more information, (because this definitely isn’t everything you need to know), feel free to visit their website, www.bowlmor.com/parties. Or contact Nikki Lazar directly using the information provided above, and she’ll help you with your party planning needs. But if you’re still not convinced that you should have a party at Bowlmor Chelsea Piers this year, here’s a few more photos so you can see how much fun we had.
