That’s right y’all the Frozen epidemic is back!
But if your kid is a Frozen fanatic, then you probably already knew Disney’s Frozen Broadway Musical was being released this year. It’s actually being released next month! Yup, Disney’s Frozen Broadway Musical starts on February 22nd, and tickets are already flying off the shelves!
If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, you should probably do so now!
Tickets currently cost about $188+ for the first few days it opens, and then dip a little to $185+ in March. But if you can wait a few months, you’ll be able to get tickets in August for about $99 a pop! But before I get into the details, let’s take a look at the cast!
Elsa is played by Caissie Levy who has previously performed in Les Misérables, Hair, Wicked, and Hairspray.
Anna is played by Patti Murin who has previously performed in Wicked and on the TV show, “Chicago Med” as Dr. Nina Shore.
Kristoff is played by Jelani Alladin. Frozen will be his first official Broadway performance.
Hans is played by John Riddle who has previously performed in West Side Story, and The Little Mermaid.
Olaf is played by Greg Hildreth who has previously performed in Cinderella, the TV show “The Good Wife” and in the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
I can’t wait to see how they all perform! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how Olaf is played since he’s definitely one of my favorite characters in the movie. But I’m also interested in seeing how folks react to the fact that Kristoff is now played by an American American, unlike in the movie. (Y’all know folks always got something to god damn say. LOL)
But whatever! Check out this cute video of the cast in their beautiful costumes! Shout out to Christopher Oram, their scenic and costume designer, you did the damn thing boo! Yasssss! (I’m a sucker for the details of a production, you’ll learn that soon enough. LOL)
Okay, now on to the details.
Here’s everything you need to know if you plan on taking your kids to see Disney’s Frozen Broadway Musical in NYC next month.
Tickets cost about $188+ for the first few days it opens and then dip a little to $185+ in March. But if you can wait a few months, you’ll be able to get tickets in Aug for about $99 a pop!
Frozen will be played at the St. James Theater, located at 246 W. 44th Street New York, NY.
The show is over two hours long, including one intermission. So make sure you get good seats, grab snacks and get comfortable.
The Recommended Age
They say that the show is for ages 8 and up, but honestly, my daughter is currently 5, about to be 6, and I’m pretty sure she’d be okay. We saw the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical on Broadway last year, and she sat through the entire thing with ease.
However, if your child can’t sit through a movie quietly, without squirming in his/her seat, don’t bother! If they can’t do a movie, there’s no way they’ll be able to do a Broadway show. Even I was uncomfortable at the show in our tiny seats last year.
The Dress Code
There’s no dress code, but of course, your little girl is going to want to dress up.
If you do let her, make sure she brings a sweater and maybe has on tights/pants? The theater is air-conditioned throughout the year, and there’s nothing worse than sitting through a two-hour long show uncomfortable because you’re freezing!
The show is called Frozen but that doesn’t mean you should be frozen by the time you leave. Lol
The Cast Meet + Greet
So this is something I would have never known had I not read the FAQ page. But apparently, after the performance, some actors stay behind to sign autographs and pose for photos. All you have to do is ask an usher for directions to the Stage Door. However, this isn’t a guarantee that your little ones will be able to meet Anna or Elsa. But it doesn’t hurt to try right?
Now I’m not sure about this, but there were goodies at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical so there may be some at this one as well. I’m assuming all Broadway shows have snacks and drinks available. I’m actually excited to see what drinks they’ll serve at this show because the ones from last year were amazing and totally worth the extra few bucks!
Plus the cups they served them in are pretty much spill proof! I’ve been using them ever since. My daughter even takes it to school with her sometimes. Now, let’s talk …
Are you excited to see Frozen on Broadway this year? Will you be taking your kids?
